Well! I've spent several days now transferring some short thoughts to books I have read on GRs. Also recommending to my friends on there too - sorry if you are flooded with those little messages. Having spent a little while opening pages etc, I can see that this could be a real time-wasting place, so I am not setting up multibookshelves or even looking for books to read (after all, my TBR is already at 200+) or I will find myself short of time in the real world!!

I've got one on reserve at the Library I have spent time putting my TBR on, as I had hoped seeing the huge number may act as a deterrent to more book buying .. Fat Chance !!

I use it all the time, mainly to post reviews for the books I get from NetGalley, and I have my "books read" list there. I like seeing whether any of my book friends have also read the same books as me, and what they think of them. And it's linked to my Facebook account so lots of potential for book chat. Give it a go!

So the Want to Read part of GR, do people use it as a wishlist function (like myself) or a books I have on my shelf to read? Be interesting to hear peoples thoughts

Just to be equally confusing .. I use a Wishlist shelf for books I would like to buy, then a Library Wishlist for reads to look into the possibility of borrowing .. My 'want to read' shelf is basically my huge and scary TBR .. Tree & kindle .. I use use GR as my spreadsheet ..

I held off for years, in support of RISI - but once I lost my entire swaps list, I sort of gave in. Also we do have a very small active membership on here (sadly, because I know there are members who come on but do not "speak" often or at all), I see lots more old members on GR.
My wishlist is on there, and many of the books I have read. I use "I want to Read" when I transfer books from my wishlist once I have them, but also if I see a book I fancy but don't necessarily want it on my wish list. Flexible, and I quite like it.
I'd rather it was here, but the old days are gone (sob). Did you know GR falls under the Facebook umbrella?

I then have shelves for 'tree books owned' 'kindle books owned' and a 'wishlist' among others

I have tree & kindle tbr's for the year of purchase, so the 2018 ones are quite small .. then I move them off of these after reading .. I also like to give certain authors their own shelf .. looks complicated written down, but I think I know what I'm doing !!
