Just to be a geek, Rope was originally performed as a Stage play, hence the cinematography could be essentially in one room .. I love the suspense and the way Jimmy Stewart stays so cool as the two murderers slowly unravel .. I think it would be destroyed if remade today .. I'm going to have to watch my Hitchcock Boxset of DVD's again, now .. Yes I appreciate that but it was an experimental cinema technique at the time with the camera rolling for extraordinary long takes and very few alterations to camera positions. Ah !! I know what you mean, now .. Watched 'The Making Of ..' extra programme on my DVD last night, before the main film. It made me look out for Hitch's subtle genius as well as the obvious .. Now I know why there are those close-ups on a persons back which are held for a little too long, it is where they changed the film roll. Based on a true story, as well .. Brilliant !!
