I completed my goodreads challenge yesterday, with almost 4 months to spare!!
Admittedly, I decided to set it low this year, as I've not been meeting it in recent years (increasing work hours and a boy who no longer goes to bed much earlier than I do contributing factors here!!) but still, I'm really pleased! It's now not showing as complete though, as I decided since I'd managed it so early, I might as well increase it! So, another 14 to go again, lol! I've been doing the challenge since 2011, and it's only the 2nd time I've managed to hit target! My best years were 2011 and 2012, when I challenged 85, but only (only!!) managed 77, (there were some perks to being unemployed!) so 2013-15, I lowered my target to 50, 2013 was the year I hit target at 52 read, but since then my totals have been down in the 30's, so this year, set the target at 36, so 3 books per month average, and 2 higher than my overall total last year (to push myself to read more!) and I've already hit it, so target back up to 50, let's see if I can get that!! Looking back 2013 was the last year that my working hours were less than 24 per week, hence the better totals back then!!

I'm ahead of schedule too with only 3 left to complete it.
I kept it the same as last year (60) as I read 63 last year and that included going to work on the train for a month. No idea how I've got so far ahead this year.
My previous challenges were: 2013 - Goal 65, Actual 67 2014 - Goal 65, Actual 66 2015 - Goal 60, Actual 57 2016 - Goal 60, Actual 63
So I look on course to beat my 2013 figures. I think my best ever total was 72 but that was before GR challenges so I'd have to check my book journal to see which year it was.

Well done Wendy, hope you make your target and exceed it! Even upping mine to 50, I am apparently still ahead by 3, which is great! I doubt I'll ever reach the heady heights of 2011/12 odd that in both years I read 77, well, at least not until I'm retired, anyways, but I'm going to give it my best shot this year! I've been really disappointed the past few years that it was so low!

Good for both of you ( natsplatt and windysisters). I never set a target of how many reads in case I frighten myself to death!! But my own challenge now means that I read more N/F than I used to, and makes me take some old stuff off the shelves, so I suppose it works that way.

This is only the second yr I've done it and I've aimed for 30 not doing too bad at 25 at the moment. But my challenge on here is not happening

I finished mine last month as I set it low too (50) as I've been doing 100 and hitting them but wanted to slow down and do other stuff (ha like hell) I'm not far off normal ETA -I've upped mine to 80 now

Last year my aim was to read 1 book per week 52 and I managed 90, so this year I upped it to 1.5 books per week and I've already gone over that and over my total of last year! I must be reading shorter books maybe haha. I've checked and to go the same percentage over as last year I would need to get to 155 books this year, it might be doable if I pull my finger out and stop procrastinating

I've never taken a lot of notice how many books I actually read, just put one down and picked the next one up .. adding this years onto GR has made keeping a record much simpler and I cannot believe I've topped the 100 already ..
I did think about taking my foot off the gas, but if there's a challenge on to aim for 155, then let's go for it !!

Ha! Just as well I've got the whole collection of Mr Men and Little Miss books. (My bro-in-law collects Ladybird books, he's got hundreds.) Good luck to all those doing the challenge and well done to those who have finished!

Well done everyone. I'm woefully behind with mine and *whispers* I have reduced it. I started in January with 110 books and have now adjusted it to 90. I'm still 14 books behind though. I don't seem to be able to read as much as I used to. I need to read some short stories I think!

I never set myself a target on how many to read in a year ... until this year when I joined GR. I've no idea how many I've read in the challenge. I'll have to go check that too! 😁

I apparently completed my challenge today! I say "apparently" because the only way I knew was that a friend "liked it" when it appeared in the update feed - I didn't get any notification myself
