EEK! I hated the Time Travellers Wife, and could have happily thrown it across the floor, but to actually shred a book, no, couldn't do that! You'd do better to write on a note - "I hated this book", and bung it in a charity bag, that would be an eye opener for the person who bought it next! Actually, I might do that the next time I see a copy of TTTW!

Those we discard are collected by a Co that shreds them .. I may may not agree, but I cannot save them all ..

Really? You'd do that Sal?! I do if I get really upset with a book! Sal

froglady No! don't shred, Sal - someone else might like to read it - so a bag for the charity shop is the best place really, surely?

It all depends on my frame of mind at the time - if I'm feeling very depressed then I try not to read actual book books as it's not worth the risk to the poor book; but the action of ripping it up is instant! I don't have time to think about my actions, it just happens. Sal

* Read more books by male authors, so at least 5 books * Read every book on the top shelf of my bookcase (There are 20 currently) * Read 3 books first published 100 or more years ago * Read the 5 oldest swaps on my TBR
So here's a report so far!
Read More Men 1. The Free - Willy Vlaughtin READ - liked a lot 2. Some Buried Ceasar - Rex Stout READ -ditto! 3. The Prime of Tamworth Pig - Gene Kemp READ - cute for reading aloud to tinies 4. Three Day Road - Joseph Boyden READ - harrowing, but brilliant 5. The Norfolk Mystery - Ian Sansom DID NOT FINISH - charity shop 6. The Rest of Us Just Live Here - Patrick Ness READ - Brilliantly odd YA novel 7. The Z Murders - J Jefferson Farjeon READ - enjoyed
Every book on the Top Shelf 1. The View on the Way Down - Rebecca Wait - READ - A brilliant read 2. Unexpectedly, Milo - Matthew Dicks READ - a slow start - and then pure enjoyment 3. Angel - Elizabeth Taylor READ - quirky but perfect, really enjoyed 4. A Half Forgotten Song - READ - too long by about 100 pages; not bad 5. Angel - Elizabeth Taylor - READ - and found it a brilliant little novel 6.
3 books published 100 years ago or more
5 oldest swaps on my TBR
As you can see, a dismal failure so far with 3 books published over 100 years ago and 5 oldest swaps! The first two of the five oldest swaps are on my read next pile, but nothing over 100 years old has reached that pile yet

It's hardly a dismal failure, Mrs Mac, it's only March after all!

I am in the process of reading a series of 3 books by J R Tomlin, about Sir Law kintour, medieval Templar mysteries, and then I'm going to reread the Philip Pullman books, His dark materials, and then his new book La Belle Sauvage. I watched him on TV the other evening and was very interested and decided to reread his series as part of my 20 books from the Kindle. Sal

Have finished the three books on my Kindle by J R Tomlin; and have two more books by Maureen Ash to reread, so that'll be 5 out of my 20 books that I'm going to read from the Kindle. Sal Now finished all of the Margaret Ash books on my Kindle, so that's 15 books to read in this year left to read. Mind you, I still have to choose which ones to read and, as we all know only too well, the selection may change radically as the year progresses! Sal

I've been keeping my list up to date too, but I have a lot more than 4 to go. I'm not quite halfway.
You're doing very well, Mrs Mac
