Quick - possibly daft! - question: is ‘O’Farrell’ an ‘O’ surname or an ‘F’? For some reason, I was convinced it was an ‘F’, but I’ve just looked on Fantastic Fiction and it’s listed under the ‘O’ authors. Why am I having to ask this?! Why don’t I know it?!?!

It's an 'O' surname .. denotes Irish roots O' means grandson of, so the name O'Farrell would mean "Grandson of Farrell"

You got a reply from geminii (& I agree, it's an O). Just wanted to say I love Maggie's books if it's Maggie O'Farrell you're considering rather than John!

Yes it is, Sarah; I’ve just finished I Am, I Am, I Am by her and loved it, but came to add it to this thread and was a bit stumped...O or F...so I’m glad to have it cleared up, but I feel as if I really ought to have known that already!
This was my 3rd Maggie O’Farrell book, and actually, I can’t understand why I haven’t read more because I love her writing!
