Looks like GR have been having stats problems again. The site has been telling me for the last few weeks that I am as many as 11 books behind on my Challenge, I've just updated my latest book and am now only 6 books behind I did see that there was a problem with the completion dates being registered, so this would have an impact on the Challenge .. That was a good surprise .. It's strange though because all the books were showing in my "read" list. I figured it wasn't really possible for me to be 11 books behind in 6 months though because that would suggest I was 2 behind each month - my reading speed has slowed a little but not to that extent... So yes, happy surprise to know I'm not too far behind and holiday reading will catch me up

I joined half way through last year.
I like doing the reading challenge which you can set to whatever target you want (this year I've set it to 60 but I'm already past it at 84).
I use it to keep as a list of what I've read and want I would like to read. Although for me its not easy to use whilst out and about looking for books to buy with no wifi but not everyone has that problem.
I'm using mine quite a few times per day.
Its useful when you link up with friends to see what they've read or reading to see if it's a book I'd like to read too.
I find it very useful.

Just found out that Facebook will no longer share Goodreads updates automatically. If I want to put the books I'm reading on my Facebook page I have to do it manually

I guess it could be to do with all these privacy changes FB are trying to promote ?? Seems a bit strange to worry about book reviews though .. there must be worse links than GR ..

It's bonkers - as you actually have to amend your settings in order for post updates to Facebook why can't they take that as you giving permission to do so. Ah well, I guess some of my non-booky friends will pleased to not see all my books....

Iris (teawithdarcy) and Mogsy .... anyone on here recognise those names as Goodreads friends? Only suddenly I seem to be flooded with reviews and comments from people I have never heard of and didn't contact. Does this happen every so often?

Mogsy is a friend of mine on GR she reads a lot of dystopian/sci-fi/YA prob saw a review of yours and added you

Yes as Mandy says, some members, when they read a review which grabs them, often put in friend requests - I guess they just want to be able to read all of your reviews and being your "friend" ensures they don't miss any!

O. Ka a a a y. So who are these folk I have not accepted a friend request from? Just other GR members who like your reviews and want to read more of them. It's not generally something to be suspicious about - afterall you didn't know any of us when you first started chatting in the forums did you?

I often accept a 'friend request' if they have a lot of info on their profile and they like the same type of books as me, then I can read their reviews and find new books for my tbr (like I need any more but............), I don't bother with incomplete profiles or those who have no reviews or books listed I am not into just collecting 'friends' for no reason.
In fact I need to have a clear out of some I added ages ago before I became a bit more discerning lol

I have just gone back to GRs and find that about 20 reviews and comments that were there at 6.30 this morning, are now gone. I think it was a blip. I do understand that if a friend makes a comment and someone replies I will see it, but honestly, these were just random and not attached to friends.

I do understand that if a friend makes a comment and someone replies I will see it, but honestly, these were just random and not attached to friends. Only this week, I've had someone who I don't know start 'following' my reviews .. they must have something better to do with their life, but hey-ho !! Anyway, they've not sent any 'friend' request, so I'll leave them to it .. If you get anything else you think is a bit dodgy, Mrs M, post a link here and one of us will pick up on it and have a look .. BTW .. I've just read your comment on The Darling Buds of May in an attempt to enlighten our 'friends from across the pond' .. sadly, they don't understand British culture let alone our humour .. some need to stick to their Mormon romance and let those of us who love ice cream, enjoy it in all its melting loveliness with a topping of inuendo and keeping our tongues firmly in our cheeks .. Loved it .. He he !!

You shouldn't have told me. I had to go back and read the comment. Then (damnation), I had to comment again
