Oh I absolutely love this book - not that it's a happy book but because of the profound effect it had on me and I still think about it now, so sad but as you say beautifully written. I am surprised it doesn't come up more often in dystopian lists and I always mention it to those looking for new books in the genre. I think I first found out about it via this forum - Mrs Mac?? janetandjohn

I read this back in 2012, it was one of my favourite books of the year that year. I gave it 5 stars or 10/10.
At the time I wasn't into doing great reviews of what I'd read and I never reviewed it on my blog, as it wasn't in existence then.
This is what I wrote about it on Goodreads.
I loved this story, I felt it was a slow burner with hidden depths to it. This was one of my favourite reads of 2012.
Due to the subject matter of the story I feel that it would make a great reading group read.
