There are two separate tales in this tiny book. The first, The Shawl, is just a few pages long and tells the heartbreaking tale of the killing of a child in a Nazi death camp in WW2. The second, Rosa, at around 50 pages, finds the mother of that child retired to Florida, a place too hot, too grubby and not suitable - although her neice pays her bills. Now she has a choice, live a life, as her neice urges, or live only on memories.
