All, apologies for the delay. I ordered my choice back in January as it was scheduled to be released in paperback on 1st February. I've only just obtained a copy. Firstly I must say how difficult I have found it to select a book so hats off to Ellie for her input. My choice is a debut novel by Erin Bartels, 'We Hope for Better Things'.
When journalist Elizabeth Balsam is asked to deliver a box of old photos to a relative she didn't know she had, the strange request seems like it isn't worth her time. But as she explores her great-aunt's farmhouse with its locked doors and hidden graves, she soon discovers just how dramatically some of the most newsworthy events of the previous two centuries shaped her own family. as she searches for answers to the riddles around her, the remarkable stories of two women who lived in this very house emerge as testaments to love, resilience, and courage in the face of war, racism, and misunderstanding.
Take an emotional journey through time - from the volatile streets of 1960s Detroit to Michigan's Underground Railroad during the Civil War - to uncover the past, confront the seeds of hatred, and discover where love goes to hide.
I hope some of you will join in. I found this by chance and picked it because it has some good reviews and also follows on from Penny T's theme but from a different angle.
Usual rules apply.

Admittedly not one that I'd have likely chosen to read on my own, but I'm up for giving it a go! Some help with PennyT's themes challenge would also be incredibly helpful (I'm not doing too well on that one...), and now let's see if I can fit this into my 40BC with a bit of reshuffling.

Sorry, I haven't read the last few, as always hoping that the "next one" is already on my shelves; and of course some just do not appeal. However, this one does so I'm going to have to find it somethere, eh?

By themes I mean that Penny's choice covered slavery and racism. My choice also covers the same issues as well as interracial marriages. Great, that you're up for giving it a go.

I liked the look of the summary you posted - and have just discovered I can borrow this free with my Kindle Unlimited trial so I've downloaded it and will try to read during April.

I like the sound of this but my library doesn't seem to have it listed so I'll keep a lookout elsewhere for a copy.

Having read every Book suggested since the start, it seems my participation will have to miss out on this one .. Cannot get from the Library, Amazon is £5 for the Kindle version, and there are no second hand ones on eBay, the cheapest is £11 ..

I've also just ordered my copy from Amazon, taking advantage of free shipping from some books I was buying for work. Would be happy to send on to the next person wanting to read it after I've finished with it.

Agh, not sure I can join in with this one either, being in a similar predicament to Suzanne (same county library wise).

Thank you for the offer ..
I'm not finding the time to get to the Library to ask about sourcing this Book for me, so I would love a copy at sometime please, whether from Mrs Mac (janetandjohn) or Mary (cornishgirl3), I do not mind ..
Obviously, I would then forward on as necessary ..
