Hermes seem to be in the middle of a website upgrade, as when I searced for Chelmsford drop off sites it says none too (but there is one a mile away that is open - used it last week) Anyway, my point is, when I put in my Postcode, the locations came up ..... try that Oh, thanks for the tip! When I put in my postcode I got a few more options than before as well. Still not as many as I'd expected (I thought the corner store down the road from me is a Hermes drop off site), but certainly more than before. Including one that is on my running route, so that's nice to know.

I wonder if there's lack of drop off points because the businesses which host them are temporarily closed. I'm sure the dry cleaner near me is one but it's not showing on the map but is of course closed at the moment- might be worth checking again in a few weeks when more shops are open This is likely the answer. It's very hard to believe there isn't a single one in a city as big as Oxford in normal times. And often they are in places like dry cleaners rather than the sort of shops that have been able to stay open through lockdown.
Oh yes, that's probably it! I will wait and see in a few months. I did put in my postcode.

Luckily I have one just up the road in a One Stop shop which I often use for milk and posting of eBay parcels, so is more convenient that the PO for me.

I just received my order - and for anyone who's wondering, there's really good tracking information available on bookswap.co.uk itself, which I thought was quite nice. As far as I can tell since they have such good Hermes tracking information, there's no "I've received my book" button that needs to be clicked. Liking this site more and more by the day!

How’s everyone getting on with using the site - if you are using it? I’m still liking it for the most part, but there are a couple of annoying things niggling me...firstly the fact that nobody’s bothered to rate me after I’ve sent the books out - I know it’s like that on many other sites like eBay, Amazon marketplace - even on the old RiSi site - people don’t have to give feedback if they don’t want to, but it’s helpful because then at least you know that everything’s gone well and it’s a nice way of saying thanks. Also, I’ve had quite a few messages from other users asking me if I’ll just send them the books and they’ll pay me the postage directly, thereby bypassing the ‘official’ channels...I’m always happy to pass my books on, but it sort of defeats the purpose when I’m trying to accrue points to order books from other people! One girl even asked me to let her know directly before I listed any books, so she’d have first dibs! Cheeky!

I've only sent one out so far and not requested one as I am saving it for those that are new and therefore more expensive to buy and I haven't seen anything I am desperate for as yet. The person I sent to has unfortunately not rated me either!

One girl even asked me to let her know directly before I listed any books, so she’d have first dibs! Cheeky! Same here, though like Mandy I've only had one order so far. I don't even know where to go to view the rating that someone else has, or my own rating for that purpose, I've given one person a bad rating as she quite literally sat on an order for a week and a half then cancelled with no explanation - but I don't see that reflected on her profile. What's the point of rating if others can't see it?!
Agree that it's cheeky to be asking to bypass the official channels, I was quite liking the idea of being able to combine postage by ordering several books from the same person - but getting the points has proven difficult. And I refuse to buy them, feel like that completely defeats the purposes (and brings the price up to Amazon-type prices anyway).
I do still like the interface and concept though, since I cross-post in several places anyway I'm happy to stick out with this one and see how things go.

I’ve received one book which was in very good condition even though the seller marked it as being acceptable and I did give her a good rating. I haven’t had any requests for my books yet.

On the home page in the top right you have 'Messages' 'Notifications' and then your avatar/icon click on that to view your account along with any ratings etc

I forgot to post on here that I received a response from the owners of the site regarding queries from users:
As we have been live in UK only little over a month - we are constantly improving the page and FAQ will be definitely added within few weeks.
Customer support has been managed mainly through FB and Instagram chats, but we are thinking about improving the interaction possibilities on site, as well.
He did also ask if I'd be willing to have video chat with him so he can ask questions about Risi and the forum. I don't really feel this is appropriate - I wasn't an owner of Risi, just a user - but I'm planning on emailing him with a potted history as I remember it and hopefully it will answer any questions he has.

For those who are still using this site, any idea how to send a message? I know it's possible since I have an inbox and I have sent a message to the previous person who ordered a book from me, but I can't figure out how I did that for the life of me now.

If you click on the book you want for example near the bottom it says 'this book is offered by' and gives the username, condition of the book and next 'Send Question' if you click on this it brings up a message box.

I ordered a book 5 days ago from a user and they haven’t bothered to send it out yet...it was apparently supposed to be arriving no later than today🤷🏻♀️. I messaged them on Instagram to ask what to do and they told me to message the book owner and ask what’s going on (was sort of hoping they’d do that!) and if I couldn’t get it sorted I could cancel my order. I’m really enjoying using the site but my main gripe is that the rules aren’t that clear...especially when it comes to posting times etc. I actually had one girl that bought a book from me asking me to explain how the site worked because she thought it would be a straight swap. I’m still enjoying using the site but I think I’ll have to adjust my expectations because I think I went into it thinking it’d be like the old Read It Swap It, and it isn’t at all. Some good books on there, though!
