Although no-longer in lock-down, many of us are still on hold .. waiting for Libraries, Bookshops & Charity Shops to re-open, finding reasonably priced books on-line, etc. I understand that joining in with our Quarterly reads may not be easy .. but for those who wish to add any comments, please do so below .. The whiting out of reviews / spoilers still applies ..

I have finished reading this book today, so whilst I think about what to write for my review, I thought it would be fitting to start this thread with the review posted to Goodreads by Mrs Mac ..
" First, if you love a beautiful bit of prose, Bloom is the author to look out for. And the story ?Well, although she tells you it is fiction, the baseline is that all the main characters are real people, (although I have to say I particularly enjoyed Parker Fiske, a man who is total fiction). Eleanor Roosevelt, the great do-gooder, and Franklin, husband and President are in the White House. And so is Lorena Hickok, journalist, and Eleanor's lover. This is the story of a woman who loved a President's wife, and who outlived both of them. A fascinating trip into history, well researched before writing, Bloom has a really readable style.... every word believable, every fact in the right place. This takes the reader from Hickok's dreadful childhood via Franklin's terms as President into her old age, and if you feel no emotion when reading her final thoughts on Mrs Roosevelt on the last page, you have no heart ..
