Just wondering if anyone has any experience with using the Kindle Oasis. I’ve had a PaperWhite for years but thinking of upgrading. I’m wondering if the Oasis is worth the extra cost to get a bigger screen, warm lighting and auto adjust sensors, but I don’t know anyone who is currently using one. Any advice would be helpful

I'd be interested to know this too. My Kindle Paperwhite isn't holding its charge for as long as it used to now, so I was also looking to replace mine and wondered about the 'upgraded' Kindles.

That’s happening to me , the battery isn’t holding it’s charge and it keeps rebooting. I quite like the idea of a bigger screen for ease of readings and I know that I don’t want a Kindle Fire as struggle to read books on my iPad.

It just seems to be the standard issue with them after a few years - it happened to my old Kindle before my paper white as well. I like the idea of a bigger screen too, and also struggle to read books on my iPad (although I do sometimes relent as I sometimes borrow eBooks from the library and can't get those on my Kindle).

Following this as I only use the Kindle App on my IPad and it really tires my eyes. I haven’t had a new Kindle since the original was issued (prehistoric!) but I have lots of unread books in my Kindle library which I’d tackle if the reading experience was more comfortable.

I think I might be looking for a new one soon too. The newer kindles don't seem to last as long now. My very first one with the keyboard lasted for years but I'm now on my 4th PW, which is less than 2 years old and that has started randomly rebooting too and the charge has never been great. It's so frustrating as it doesn't even go back to the correct place in the book.

I'm seriously considering buying a Paperwhite as I'm currently using the Kindle app on my iPad, however that device is getting old too .. If the worse happens to my iPad, I could do most things on my PC or phone, except read my Kindle books ..

I have an older model of Kindle which I never use. I'm reading kindle books or library ebooks on my tablet (Samsung) and am happy with this solution. Do newer Kindles accept E PUB format?

No you can still only read mobi format books on Kindles. I bought a reconditioned Kobo (which uses epub) specifically for reading library (Borrowbox) books on because I just can't read for very long on a backlit screen such as an iPad or phone. Since i borrow at least 40 ebooks a year from the library I felt I could justify the expense...

Interesting thread I'm still in the dark ages with my kindle as I still use my original kindle with the keyboard!
I keep thinKing I ought to upgrade but reading your comments so far I'll wait till it finally gives up the ghost! When it does I will come on here and ask which one to get as there seems to be so much choice

I’ve been really lucky with my kindles, only ever had two, the first was the old keyboard version, and my current PaperWhite I’ve had since 2014.
My eyesight isn’t particularly good for small print which is why I wondered if the Oasis would be better since the screen is 7inches instead if the standard 6 inches for PaperWhite and the lighting is supposed to be kinder but it’s about £100 more expensive so I wanted to justify the cost!
I don’t know anyone who has one though and since lock down I’ve not been travelling to any of the bigger stores like John Lewis, where they may have some out in display.

I loved my Kindle with the keyboard but when I had to get another one as I managed to destroy my old one I couldn't find one so had to get a new edition. The new Kindle Fire I've got looked to me the same as the old one, which had simply given up the ghost, but it's a bit longer and a bit heavier so may have to look at just taking the Kindle and not the Fire when I'm on the bus or something because of the weight. I've been using my iPad for eBooks from the library (via Borrowbox) but find it uncomfortable to read as my iPad is quite heavy. I might look at getting a cheap secondhand Kobo for this!

My new Kindle Fire, which I've had for 1 week, has to go back to Amazon as it's starting playing around. First of all I could only access 1 of my 8 audible books, and then yesterday it was difficult to turn the pages on my book as sometimes it wouldn't turn at all and then it went backwards! And what I call the home page with the icons on it (I'm probably using the wrong technical term there byt it's the page where you can access your books, emails, internet, etc, etc) just couldn't get its act together - I would press the email sign and up would come Amazon Prime, and it kept doing that. Anyway when it was doing the same things today, enough is enough I thought as if it's breaking down after just 1 week, what is it going to be like after a few months. So they've sent me a return parcel thing and I'll take the Kindle into the post office and send it back to them. I still want another one so will order again after I've been credited with the cost and try again. Sal
