When Beatrice gets a frantic call in the middle of Sunday lunch to say that her younger sister, Tess, is missing, she boards the first flight home to London. But as she learns about the circumstances surrounding her Tess's disappearance, she is stunned to discover how little she actually knows of her sister's life - and unprepared for the terrifying truths she must now face.
The police, Beatrice's fiancé and even her mother accept they have lost Tess, but Beatrice refuses to give up on her. So she embarks on a dangerous journey to discover the truth, no matter the cost.
Review
The style of writing in this book is quite unusual, with the main character writing a letter directed to her missing sister cutting in between what happened previously and current times with a little flower symbol. I found this hard and very confusing in parts and the book became a bit of a chore to read until I became accustomed to the writing.
You do not get far into the book before you find what out what happens with the sister with the main character unravelling the mystery and then telling the reader how she discovered the truth.
The author did manage to keep me reading and towards the end I powered through and once finished it left me trying to figure out what I had missed as all my guesses were nowhere near! Think it might be one I have to read again.
I have not read a book like it so I am struggling to compare to anything, but if you like to be surprised then it might be worth a read.
I give it 4 out of 5 despite the jumping around and am looking forward to reading her next book which is on my TBR pile also.
