As part of the Zoom crew that brought this up, I'd be interested to share a bit more than the book title at the end (without knowing at this stage what's on the card that I'll get back, of course ), since the person before me in the circle sees all of the comments anyway. Equally understand if others are hesitant, though I guess the hope is to encourage joiners by showing that all books will have their lovers and their not-so lovers, and in a way that's the beauty of the circle!

I can totally understand Rosemary's viewpoint - I've really enjoyed this Book Cirle experience and would love to see others thoughts on what we've all read ..
I'm not worried about what comments my book receives, the whole point surely is to read books that maybe we wouldn't normally pick for ourselves .. as long as any negatives are accompanied by a genuine reason, then that's great - not everyone can like everything ..
If I've learnt one thing from my IRL Book Club, especially when we're discussing a book I didn't enjoy, it's that by listening to comments by others, I occasionally see things differently and change my score ..
Obviously, if you feel uncomfortable sharing a comment, then don't - but the writer knows the following recipients are going to see it, so I see no reason why the rest of the Circle can't ..

I don't mind telling people what has been said, I just think that a lot of negative comments might put people off joining.
As far as I remember, Mrs Mac's reason for asking us to include a card was so that the person who sent the book could know what people thought of it. Not so that it would be a public display of whose book was most popular, which I think this might turn into.

Great idea, Rosemary .. I was only voicing a thought, as I'm both intrigued & interested .. I certainly don't want to muddy any still waters .. If there's a better idea, or the over-riding opinion is to keep the comments private, I'm happy to respect that, too ..

I don't think of it as a popularity contest, we don't all like the same genres or stories, more the case that if you are near the end of the circle you get to see many of the previous comments but if you are placed near the front for example you get to see very few or none and after reading a specific book have a vested interest in what other circle readers thought of it compared to yourself. As someone said before this could be done anonymously. I supposed some of us can check Goodreads. Maybe there is another way round this..........?

Have seen this. Will come back to it and reply later this evening. Will take all comments on board, last thing we want to do is make anyone uncomfortable. Don't wish to deviate from original set up really if we can help it.

Having had a chance to read all the comments and having received a couple of concerned PMs, I am going to keep the set up the way it is. I've often wondered about the comments, so I'm happy to share the ones I receive about my book, if anyone wants to know at the end of the circle, please PM me. I I will reveal the list for 2021 when everyone's received their books back. It's worked well, (obviously until I took over and Suzanne joined! ) for a number of years, so let's keep it this way. Thanks all.

I've made a bit of a cock up - I've neglected to forward on a book to Celia! Just found it in my desk drawer... Apologies to all concerned!
