Collected from the library yesterday: Cry, the Beloved Country by Alan Paton I really liked this one Rosemary, a must read I think, plus it's on the 1001 books you should read list I think
Oh good!

So I got an email saying a library reservation was ready to collect. I asked MrW if he would go as the library closes at 3pm and I'll be working. By the time he was ready to go out, I'd had another notification. When he got to the library he texted me to ask was it definitely two books because............there was a third! They are: Troubled Blood by Robert Galbraith (finally) The Postscript Murders by Elly Griffiths The Puppet Show by MW Craven (wonder where I got the inspiration to read that one from???) Anyway, my only quandary now is which to read first

Meanwhile, in this house, new year, new book bundles from Facebook Marketplace: The European Dream by Jeremy Rifkin With or Without You by Carole Matthews Billionaires' Banquet by Ron Butlin The Book Thief by Markus Zusak Even Dogs in the Wild by Ian Rankin Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden Madoff by Erin Arvedlund
From BookSwap: Mistress by James Patterson & David Ellis (with another for my book fairy parcel which I will of course not tell you about)
From a colleague: The House We Grew Up In by Lisa Jewell
My hauls in the first half of January have completely undone the brilliant work I did on reducing my TBR over the Christmas period, when somehow I managed to finish with a net reduction even after taking into consideration the books I received !

My hauls in the first half of January have completely undone the brilliant work I did on reducing my TBR over the Christmas period, when somehow I managed to finish with a net reduction even after taking into consideration the books I received ! I have a massive pile of books on my TV unit...about 30 in all, and my resolution for this year was to read *all* of them and clear it off because I’m sick to death of looking at them....every time I manage to finish one though, I just end up finding another to replace it with from my shelves...absolutely defeats the purpose!
