The Foundling by Stacey HallsLondon, 1754.
Six years after leaving her illegitimate daughter Clara at London's Foundling Hospital, Bess Bright returns to reclaim the child she has never known. Dreading the worst - that Clara has died in care - the last thing she expects to hear is that her daughter has already been reclaimed - by her. Her life is turned upside down as she tries to find out who has taken her little girl - and why. Less than a mile from Bess' lodgings in the city, in a quiet, gloomy townhouse on the edge of London, a young widow has not left the house in a decade. When her close friend - an ambitious young doctor at the Foundling Hospital - persuades her to hire a nursemaid for her daughter, she is hesitant to welcome someone new into her home and her life. But her past is threatening to catch up with her and tear her carefully constructed world apart. From the bestselling author of The Familiars, and set against the vibrant backdrop of Georgian London, The Foundling explores families, secrets, class, equality, power and the meaning of motherhood. Although I am yet to read The Familiars, I know that it has been thoroughly enjoyed by many of you, and with Mrs England nominated for an award, I thought this would be a good choice for our next Quarterly read ..
Should be an easy book to source at Libraries & maybe a Charity Shop, so I hope some of you will join in over the next 3 months .. As always, I will set up a discussion thread in April

I'm in! I already have a copy of the book, so that's an added bonus As always, I plan to read this early in the quarter, and would be happy to pass my copy along if anyone doesn't have it and wants to join in.

I think we have this one in our shop, so if it's still there next time I go to work, I will buy it

I've decided to listen to this on audio instead of reading, so if anyone wants a copy to join in I'm happy to send!

I just finished the audio from the library, Adelyne, and I thought it was wonderful. The two narrators are both really good. Enjoy!
