Popped into Waterstones earlier and treated myself to two lovely hardbacks: Agatha Christie by Lucy Worsley and Death Comes to Marlow by Robert Thorogood.

I went into Waterstones to collect a calendar (the Agatha Christie Marple one) I had reserved online in their sale and couldn't resist a look at the tables. I already have squillions of books to read but came out with The Clockwork Girl - Anna Mazzola and Godmersham Park - Gill Hornby.
In addition, a giveaway win from a Facebook group arrived, A Terrible Kindness by Jo Browning Wroe. I've seen so many good things about this one.

I acquired Moonflower Murders by Anthony Horowitz. I think that's the first book of 2023. However, knowing how dreadful my memory is at present, I could be wrong.

Obia by Colin Niel. Set in Suriname. Crime novel anchored in the country difficult times in the 80's. A 600 pages chunkster!

First books into the house for 2023! I didn't quite make it a month but am pretty chuffed as I've gotten the TBR down to 1002 in the meantime , roughly on track to end the year with my target of 950. Apple Tree Yard by Louise Doughtey - a good one for the challenge. I chose it for "Yard" being a unit of distance, but it is also >400 pages, and has been made into a motion picture. Sounds really interesting too! The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett - to join pennylane with her book club read.

Put my bookmark in this morning and saw that the different parts are named after elements in DNA, I like it already

Mr P struggled back from the library, heroically (his words), with the total brick that is The Ink Black Heart by Robert Galbraith on Friday. Yesterday I walked past the library, to the charity shops, via the hairdresser and bought This is What Happened by Mick Herron and Ravens by George (scores on the) Dawes Green
