There's another book on the 1001 list that's only available in the original Korean or a French translation. I've ordered the first volume of that in French, but there are 10 volumes... I don't think I will be reading them all.
What is the Korean/French one, I'm curious π
La chaine des monts Taebaek by Jo Jung-Rae (name can be spelled differently). It's set before, during and after the Korean war. It sounds a bit daunting, but I will give it a try.

Last year I counted all books in and out of my house to see if I am accumulating books or not... I ended up with 24 more books than I started with! So this year I have decided that only books that are on my wishlist can come in, or towards the end of the year books that fulfil categories in the 40/10/25 book challenge (because I will be reading them and therefore most likely will be moving them on. Good luck with that! π I agree, good luck!

I just looked it up, sounds very serious in presenting a balanced history of the Korean war. Interested to see what you think of it. The editor has a good reputation (L'Harmattan)

Pre-order of The Mill House Murders by Yukito Ayatsuji arrived, it was a surprise as I wasn't expecting it until later this month (official publication date is 23rd Feb). This changes my reading plans, as I really want to read this one. Perfect timing though, as I have time today to be able to read a nice big chunk.

Audible Daily Deal, Bleeding Heart Yard by Elly Griffiths, no. 3 in the Harbinder Kaur series. I have the other two in the series but haven't read them yet. I enjoy her Ruth Galloway books but I didn't get on with Stephens & Mephisto, so I'm hoping for the best with this one.
I brought home from work a review copy of The Writing Retreat by Julia Bartz, which was donated but we can't sell it until after the UK publication date of 2nd March. So to make sure no one puts it out early by mistake, I am looking after it at home

My sister likes "Ruth" and "Harbinder" but not the Brighton series. (I like all three)

Ooh, I didn't realise review copies could be sold (even after publication date)!

That's good to hear. Hopefully I will agree with your sister and enjoy the Harbinder series

Often they say "not for resale". We've been told that this means the reviewers can't sell them on Amazon or whatever, but publishers don't mind charity shops selling them as long as it's after the publication date. Still, I'm cautious about this, because customers may think we're cheating in some way. So I tend not to put those out for sale. But sometimes they don't say "not for resale", they just say that it's a review copy and give information about the publication date and other details. Then it's absolutely fine. This is the case with The Writing Retreat
