Dear all,
I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Written by a Nobel Prize winner, it is written with such beauty, and fine story telling, that it is unputdownable. I do not use that last word lightly. The quality of the writing is quite remarkable. The book is only 122 pages long, but it is more memorable than many books 3 times as long. Some of the scenes are truly remarkable, and will stay with the reader for a very long time indeed.
The book concerns a so-called 'honor' killing in a small town. A couple get married, but the groom soon finds out that the bride is no virgin. This sets up an amazing series of events, which ends up with the death of the man who is considered, by the town, to be responsible. (this is no plot spoiler, since the man is named on page 1 of the book).
Yours Polish6
