In November 2013, Mathias was feeling tired, a bit run down, and friends were telling him he was a little pale. A year later, he is finally let go from hospital for good - with a new DNA. The original anaemia spoken of turns out to be bone marrow failure. His family is not suitable as donors, there does not seem to be anyone on the bone marrow register that "fits". There is only one chance left...... Mathias Malzieu, the author of The Boy With the Cuckoo Clock Heart; a poet; a popstar - may die. Of course he doesn't - or he could never had written the book. But he thought he might. His feelings about the treatment, about his hospital room, his life - are described here, and whilst I do not make a habit of reading non-fiction books about people and their illnesses, I romped through this one, willing him on and hoping that all would be well. A year in hell? Mostly, but somehow, he got through it, and now you can relive it with him.
The Author wrote The Boy with the Cuckoo Clock Heart.
