www.librarything.com/bookaward/The+List+100+Best+Scottish+BooksThe Goodreads list of 300 Scottish books might be more interesting.... but every single Ladies No. 1 Detective Agency is listed, most of Rebus, and all the Outlanders. This reduces the list by probably a whole page, so I thought this was more interesting.

A great list, thanks for sharing!
I try to do a Read Scotland Challenge every year so this list is helpful.
I just listened to Annals of the Parish , John Galt on BBC radio 4, and really enjoyed it !

Only just caught up with this.
I'm a bit confused by the list really as the title is misleading: It should really be books by Scottish Authors. Afterall the No1 Detective Agency is set in Botswana - the fact that the author is Scottish doesn't make it a Scottish book.....

George Orwell was born in India. But he spent a fortnight on the Island of Jura. Obviously that counts.

I was confused by Harry Potter, too! I think in some cases they have counted where the book was written ... or it must be partly written in the case of Orwell, unless he wrote a book in 2 weeks

Try Stuart MacBride books. He's got a detective series based in Aberdeen and he lives just outside aberdeen too although he's from another part of Scotland

I just love the Hayburn family Chronicles by Guy McCrone - set in Victorian Glasgow, bit like a Scottish Forsyte saga
