I have a small pile of 11...... (OK, 15 ) books to be read in the dining room, which is also open to the kitchen and my office under the stairs. I keep moving them round - to make them look neater and therefore smaller haha! - but I ask myself why not just take them up to the landing where I have room on a bookcase?
Complicated. Yes, there are spaces. Mmmmm ..... but a new bed arrives next week and I will have to get rid of my bedside bookshelves full of books - yes, onto the landing bookcase. But actually, the bookcase will not take all of those books so where to put the "overs"?
Got it! I have a pile of books by Winston Churchill (don't ask - inherited) on a small table that I should really take to Oxfam and then the "overs" can go on that table. Problem solved.
Oh no! still haven't got room on shelves for the 15... Life gets complicated when you are a booky person, doesn't it?

Oh yes! I have a big bookcase and a wooden chest full of books. They are then stacked next to the chest and my lovely books with nice covers are on a shelf I emptied of dvds. I have said I'll stop buying as there is no room but I'm moving soon and eventually I'll buy a new bookcase. I'll have a reading/writing/stationary room then that's one reason I wanted to move lol There must be creative ways we can store them.. I've seen pictures online incorporating them into the stairs

Ooh MrsMac booky people problems, my bookcase is currently being made and should have space for 1000 books!!! I'm obviously looking forward to being able to take my books out of the moving boxes they have been in since August last year.
I hope you manage to find space or manage to make them your next reads??

Is there any room in the summer house? Just a thought.

Yes.....
However celia48, better not to start putting books in there because there's actually room for hundreds, and where would that lead?!

Haha, that's actually not a bad suggestion, just think, you could have your own library summer house!

But what happens in the winter? Won't it be rather cold and damp for the poor things?

I am currently on my PC, upstairs in the box room / office space .. I have two piles of 12 books each looking at me, they should not be here .. Don't ask how many are in towering piles on my dining room table, I daren't count .. and the promise I made to myself that I wouldn't have books on my lounge shelving has long since been dashed .. As well as every conceivable corner of the shelves in my dining room, where books are double and treble stacked, I have three large boxes in the bedroom full up .. I think I need to fill a forth .. So much for joining RISI 'to swap one or two books' .. little did I know where that would lead !! I must point out that there is not one word of regret written here ..

I recently discovered that Ikea does these amazing pull out drawers that fit under their Malm series of beds, each easily fitting 50+ books (I haven't yet pushed the limit so I don't know) and a double bed can have four of these...

How about a temporary shelf for those books above the bedroom door. I have got rid of such a lot of books now that space is not a problem. However, I do not intend refilling the shelves.............Anyhow I read too slow....

I'm so glad to see it's not just me, I now look to BookMooch as a way to make space for more books.

Ooh, we got on of these boxes to go under the sofabed for the second spare room. I'm keeping the pillows for the bed in it but good to know about this if I get desperate! Seriously though, when I moved in with MrW we got two of the tallest/widest Billy bookcases from Ikea and, at MrW's suggestion, got the ones with the deeper shelves so there's room to double park. I also bought some extra shelves so could fit more in. I have been at the point where I couldn't fit any more on to these bookcases though. When Risi swapping site closed I got rid of the two boxes of swaps I had and moved two crafting boxes which were taking up space on my bookcases into the space the swaps had been and hey presto! a huge amount of space on my bookcases! It's not easily accessible so I've piled all my keepers into this shelf and have then been able to spread my TBR out so there's now some free space on shelves again. I've been pretty good so far this year and haven't acquired too many additional books.

I have a pile of books on my desk that have recently arrived and nowhere to put them. All my bookshelves are full as are cupboards. I have boxes and a pile of books under my desk. I have 8 books to find a home for and I'm struggling.
