CHANGES FOR 2019
Ok, so looking at all of the invited comments and suggestions, I’ve been looking at the 40BC categories and see what changes I can make for 2019.
To address two areas which members found particularly challenging:
Number 22 (A Book from the Library) is now A book which is on loan (from a library or from a friend)
Number 6 (A book set during Christmas) will become: A book with a “date” in the title – this could be a day of the week, month, season, specific holiday or annual event
Other “tricky” categories, such as a Prize Winning Book, or a Book Set over 200 years ago, remain because it wouldn’t be a “challenge” if it was too easy.
As discussed, I’ve also added a Bonus Challenge of an additional 10 categories. These are mostly made up of categories which existed in previous years’ challenges as I’ve endeavoured to put the new ideas into the main challenge. A member did suggest it could be any 40 from 50 but I think that would again make it less of a challenge, whereas prescribed categories retains focus.
As always though, this is YOUR challenge and if you wish to “tweak” it to suit your reading needs, I’m not going to come around and put a bat up your nightdress.
I hope you enjoy the new categories – Happy Reading!
