Spent the last glorious half an hour going through this list, so thought I'd share the joy. I ended with 97 read (out of 1000, so not a lot at all), but unlike many other lists with this one I actually felt like I had a chance! Most lists are just filled with famous books that I'd never even think of reading, but I thought this one was particularly fun as it was so variable, lots of genres were included. www.listchallenges.com/1000-books-you-may-have-actually-read/

Same! Recognised a whole bunch which were on the TBR. Added a few to the wishlist too...

I’ve read 137 with loads more on the TBR, and few - maybe 6 or 7 - that I gave up on.

Ooh thanks for this list! I've read 298, got only half a dozen or so TBR, but there are probably another dozen on there that I've not come across before and shall have a look at.
It's clearly an American list - all those Dr Seuss!! - and it brought back some good memories for me. Charlotte's Web is on there, which I first read as a 7 year old when we lived in Pittsburgh. At that time, my younger brother's favourite book was Are You My Mother? by P D Eastman, which is also on the list. And then, when we lived in California when my daughter was 9, one of her favourite books was The Island of Blue Dolphins.

Gosh, that was fun. But quite shocked by the results. I believed myself to be well read but I've only read 20% (197). Although there are 15 on my TBR shelves.

I read a bit less than you, and only have a few on my TBR. But there are lots on that list I have no interest in ever reading !

It does tell you right at the end how many percent of other list-takers have numbers lower than you - At 10% read I think I just about placed in the top half. The list seemed quite deliberately drawn from a very wide range of genres (presumably so that everyone "might actually have read" at least some of them), like Mrs Mac there were some that I don't think I will ever want to read , although a fair number are languishing on my TBR!
