It wasn't quite a 'rave' but it was very good and different and I really liked the style, hope you enjoy it as much as I did

The Demon and the City (The Detective Inspector Chen Novels Book 2) by Liz Williams, which only cost me £1.99. However, the first in the series is over £10, so I'll park this series for a bit!

I have found that audio is a good way to digest long books and I have some Audible credits, so I got The Recognitions by William Gaddis. And... visiting friends I found a charity shop with a clearance box of slightly damaged books at 4 for £1 I think they must have only just been put out because there were some amazing ones! So that was the end of my resolutions to stop spending on books and reduce my TBR. But I only spent £4 Here's the haul:
Aesop's Fables - Aesop More Work for the Undertaker - Margery Allingham The Mind Readers - Margery Allingham Her Royal Spyness - Rhys Bowen
Reputation - Lex Croucher
The Postscript Murders - Elly Griffiths The House at Sea's End - Elly Griffiths The Night Hawks - Elly Griffiths Murder Underground - Mavis Doriel Hay Newcomer - Keigo Higashino Un Café Maison (Salvation of a Saint) - Keigo Higashino (in French, hope I can cope!)
Still Life - Val McDermid
Poison for Teacher - Nancy Spain
Cinderella Goes to the Morgue - Nancy Spain
Dial A for Aunties - Jesse Sutanto
The Village of Eight Graves - Seishi Yokomizo

Newcomer is very good, so are Elly Griffith's ones and Café Maison too, depending on how good your French is of course. If only for all these it's a very good haul!

This is an amazing haul, well worth giving up the resolution for! Both the Keigo Higashinos are very good (then again, there isn't anything of his that I didn't like), Dial A for Aunties was legit hilarious and I thought Village of Eight Graves was also very well-written. It's quite new too, I'm surprised that you can already find it in a charity shop. Meanwhile, my pre-order of Reminders of Him by Colleen Hoover arrived. I hadn't realised at the time that the book was actually yet to be released, got a bit confused when the rest of my order was delivered, but now I have a book published in 2022 for the challenge so that's quite handy.

I thought of you when I found the books, Adelyne - I knew you'd read several, including Dial A for Aunties, and if they'd been in Cambridge I would have wondered if you donated them! But they weren't... and also I'm sure you would treat your books better than this person did. Looks like she turns back the covers and reads in the bath. But I'm not complaining if that's why they were so cheap!
