Set in the reign of that old tyrant, Henry VIII, the protagonist of these adventures is Matthew Shardlake, a hunchbacked lawyer who works on commissions initially from Thomas Cromwell, then Archbishop Thomas Cranmer, then Queen Catherine Parr.
These are all "fatties", a mix of Tudor history and mystery, and very good they are too.
1. Dissolution 2. Dark Fire 3. Sovereign 4. Revelation 5. Heartstone 6. Lamentation 7. Tombland

Oh you've just listed one of my favourite all time characters and the books he appears in. I got introduced to Matthew here at RiSi They are all cracking good reads. I do regret swapping some of my Shardlake novels as they really are keepers for me.

I've really enjoyed this series, loved them all so far except for one of them that just felt too long, only got Lamentation left to read so been saving it up.

Just reading that now Lindsay. I thought the last one was a tad too long (Heartstone), but still a good read.
