If you don't mind second hand books, you may often click and buy on Amazon. There are several second hand book sites that carry large amounts of stock, and it would be good, I think if we had a list of them I'll start with one with it's link: www.bookdonors.co.uk/Boo Donors is up on the borders of Scotland/England, and looks as though their warehouse is as big as the Bookbarn in Somerset. Bonus? No postage changed, so even if on Amazon it's 1p, there is still £2.80 to pay unless you are on Amazon Prime.

My favourite is Awesome Books. Used books start at £2.59 including postage and the ones I've had have always been in ok condition. Great idea Mrs Mac. www.awesomebooks.com

I have always gone through Amazon and didn't realise you could contact the sellers direct! I've just ordered two books from Awesome books which were cheaper than Amazon and got 20% off my first order. Brilliant!

I started using them when Amazon changed the thresholds for free delivery, so much better when you just want one book and lessens Amazon's market domination. (And if we didn't have these new forums we'd not have had this thread, so another spin off bonus!)

And when you're trawling the net looking for books, whether used or new, don't forget Book Butler which will search 55 different online retailers and marketplaces in one go so you can do a price comparison: www.bookbutler.co.uk/I find this site particularly useful for more obscure books.

I quite often use Rakuten.co.uk as a source for new and second hand books, CDs and DVDs; it's normally free postage so better than Amazon with their hefty whack of £2.80 per book. Sal

I use a site called Hive....I don't know if it sells second-hand books, but I think it's a brilliant alternative to Amazon when it comes to buying books, DVDs and CDs etc; it offers free delivery on all orders, and best of all, it donates a percentage of the price of your order to a local, independent bookshop of your choice.
