Got a Big book? Got a Fat book? Got a Giant book?
A hardback you want to read but so far you haven't got round to it? A big paperback too big to read in bed in case it knocks you unconscious? You get me? List here any BFGs you want to read this year, and over the course of the next 12 months you can tell us how you are going.
Edited 12 Jan: I have several large paperbacks and hardbacks, and I just can't chose which... so I will just say I am going to read 2 this year!

These are all the books I have that are over 500 pages. I don't expect to read all of them in the year ... but my challenge is one every 2 months, i.e. 6 in total.
The Children's Book - A.S. Byatt finished 11/6/17, 5 stars
Prey - Michael Crichton finished 14/3/17, 4 stars
The Corrections - Jonathan Franzen finished 27/5/17, 3 stars
Gillespie and I - Jane Harris finished 4/9/17, 5 stars
The Hunchback of Notre Dame - Victor Hugo finished 29/3/17, 5 stars
As Meat Loves Salt - Maria McCann finished 27/10/17, 5 stars
Eragon - Christopher Paolini finished 29/1/17, 4 stars
The Little Friend - Donna Tartt finished 11/2/17, 3 stars
The Priory - Dorothy Whipple finished 25/2/17, 5 stars
Blackout - Connie Willis finished 10/1/17, 4 stars
All Clear - Connie Willis finished 25/7/17, 4 stars

I will see how many of these I can get through as I am reducing my Goodreads challenge from 100 books in 2016 which I finished to only 50 for 2017 so I can get back to feeling less pressure to make up the numbers!!
These are carried over from this 2016 -
All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr - READ House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski The Gallow's Curse by Karen Maitland Labyrinth by Kate Moss
Kill For Me by Karen Rose Well one down started and it and I think I read it years ago!!
The Woodcutter by Reginald Hill - READ
New for 2017 -
The Trees (only 486 pages but a big hardback) - Ali Shaw The Lost Time Accidents (also under 500 pages at 490 but again a giant hardback) - John Wray
Maybe - Barkskins by Annie Proulx (a massive paperback) at 714 pages!

I'm planning to read a min of 6 BFG's this year, I'm not going to commit to which 6 up front though, I shall just pop on and update when I have read one! I'm hoping at least 1 will be The Glass books of the dream eaters which I've been trying to read for years though lol Nat
Edited 26/5/17
BFG 1 completed Fool's Quest by Robin Hobb, took me 2 weeks to read it, but so totally worth it, I loved it!
BFG 2 completed Assassin's Fate by Robin Hobb, took me 2 weeks, but loved it so so much, series all over now, I am bereft, but oh wait, she has several other series, all as epic, hurrah!!!

I've not had a good look at my shelves for this yet but for the time being I'll just add one that stood out to me earlier this evening, at a whopping 880 pages A Place of Greater Safety - Hilary Mantel. I've read quite a few of hers but the ones I've most enjoyed have been the quirky, black humour ones. I've avoided Wolf Hall & sequel as somewhat dry.
So this will go one of two ways, either I'll find it too hard going or dislike it and give up (possible as it's one of her historical novels) or I'll really get my teeth into it and enjoy it. Either way, it'll be off my shelf!

I've finished my first BFG for 2017 - Blackout by Connie Willis. Time travel to World War 2. Enjoyed it! It didn't seem a page too long

I do have some BFG's on my shelves, but as I plan to concentrate on the other Challenges, if I read one I'll note it here.

So one down. Started Kill For Me by Karen Rose earlier and straight away I thought 'this sounds familiar' so skipped to the end and also remembered one of the many twists in the story so I think I will ditch this one as I don't want to read the better part of a nearly 600 page book only to realise I've read it before. I did read quite a few of hers a few years back before I started logging them on Goodreads and can't remember where I got to, weird thing is this looks like an unread copy from a charity shop, so maybe I bought another one later?
I hope I am not the only one who does this lol??
