So sad. Been a member for years-as my pile of TBR testifies! I've had a bit of a slowdown but recently resurrected my list, and had a few more good swaps. Checked in yesterday but couldn't access the site. Tried again today with same result. Somehow managed to find this forum site and read the sad news. Might try Bookmooch, I have sooooo many books! Thanks to everyone who has done so much for the book swapping community, it has been wonderful.

I'm so sorry that this is happening. I haven't been on the forums for quite a while now, due to an ongoing battle with depression. Have met such a lot of lovely people through risi. Sal

There is something extremely disquieting about not being able to access the RISI site. Even I wasn't intending to actively swap I used to have a browse around............. It's gonna take some time. Missing it already. BUT................................THANK GOODNESS FOR THE FORUMS!

Me too coz I built up a tiny collection to swap but it seems to be a calling to charity shops now.

This is sad although I haven't swapped in ages seeing as I mostly read by Kindle now but what a great idea it was at the time Unfortunately Royal Mail privatisation means postage prices are appaling 😪 I really like this forum - although I do not post a lot - it has helped keep my love of reading going and active and I've found so many series and books from here. Hopefully it will stay going for a long time!! Jess

I am also distraught at readitswapit's passing. T reiterate previous comments, yes i have increased my reading horizon vastly through it, whilst also having warm glows of giving books of mine new lives in new hands and bookcases in completely different part of the country. Bookmooch won't be the same.

Pretty disappointed about this, even though I agree that postage prices are too high and therefore rather than constantly swapping and taking chances I've only swapped for special books.
A tip for those of you who have lots of books left you want to get rid of - there are sites such as Ziffit, Webuybooks & momox that will pay money for books (and dvds, cds and video games too). It can be a bit tedious inputting barcodes, and they don't accept every book and offer a pittance for many books, but if you have a lot it can add up & give you money to spend on books.
It's what I'll do now, instead of joining places like Bookmooch.
