No date for my library opening yet. Herts library is starting a "Ready Reads" service on monday but only 10 libraries in the county will be doing this to start. Hopefully it won't be too long before mine is included. You select the genres you enjoy reading they will pick some books for you then you collect from the library door at an agreed time

My local authority posted on Facebook to say they are preparing some libraries to reopen on Monday, but my local isn’t one of them. Need to see if any of the further out ones are! Possibly the one between me and work is an alternative if it’s open! Nat

Mr P took two books back I'd had before lockdown. Didn't venture in, although there were people inside. I still have reservations on books, but can't reserve anything new at the moment.

I popped the library book that had been gathering dust snice I read it just before lockdown back to the library the other day. through the letterbox, so now that my loans now show 0. The reservation that was "on the shelf" seems to have now disapered and I cant even remeber what it was! Still no date for it opening yet so thank goodness for my tbr and kindle!

My library is still not fully open. All books out on loan have been renewed until the beginning of August. But they do that have this scheme in place now.
'Libraries are now able to offer a new CLICK AND COLLECT service, running alongside our usual reservation service.
This will allow customers to request with no charge a maximum of 7 books through a safe and controlled collection system. Tell us what you like to read or your favourite authors and our experienced staff will be happy to select books for you and contact you with a pick up date and time at your preferred Library.'
And they have an online form to complete if you wish to take up the service.

Nipped in as had 10 mins to spare before the hairdressers. Any book taken off the shelf and looked at had to be placed on a basket if you weren't taking it out. No reservations at present.

I want to go and have a look at my local library but I'll have to keep my hands in my pockets so I don't forget and take half the books off the shelves to have a look at them before deciding which ones I want! Think I'll just put some reservations in instead. Sal

Gloucestershire have just announced that from 13th they will offer a reserve and collect service, but you have to book a time slot to go and get them. Not all libraries are offering this at the moment. They are also offering a "what type of book do you enjoy" service, you tell them what you like or what authors you like and they will choose a selection of books for you. No browsing at the moment. Step in the right direction, at least - but I wouldn't go in a library at the moment, much as I miss them. Just because something is "allowed" doesn't mean it's the sensible thing to do!

My library has the same rules as bookshops.that if you pick up a book to have a look at it but then decide you don't want it you have to put it on a special trolley, not back on the shelf. Part of the joy of libraries and bookshops is the browsing aspect so I won't be going in until you can browse and put unwanted books back on the shelves. Sal

It's very worrying when you see people behaving the way some of them are and maybe putting others at risk. Sal

Our library is opening next week. I think I will just go and take back the books that I have, so I don't forget. Then I'll wait a while. I don't need anything for challenges at the mo
