I'm in Scotland and was a librarian and at that time (1st Scottish lockdown) mine was closed. Eventually our libraries have begun to open by click and collect. The library I ran was closed because there is no one to run it (I left - my bad). It is beginning to open with selected click and collect times ran by another librarian until they get a replacement. January 2021 our libraries were to slowly open to browse but then 2nd lockdown for Scotland began on 26 December. When Blackburn with Darwen had to save a lot of money they closed all the branch libraries and just left Blackburn Library and Darwen Library open. Then volunteers managed to run the 3 or 4 small libraries and they've kept them opened until the first lockdown and I don't think they've opened again yet. The only problem with the volunteers is that they are restricted as to what they can do because of data protection so I don't think they are allowed to look up someone's info on the computer, even if the person is standing in front of them at the time. But they did keep the little libraries open so the locals could keep on going to their libraries and get their books.

Essex Libraries are all closed .. You can still reserve books via the website, but we can't get at them yet (I have 3 waiting for me) - no Click n Collect here ..
Current borrows have been extended until end Mch - we are being guided towards using Borrowbox ..
Just have to wait and see if they open in line with the Schools next month or with retail in April ..

Essex Libraries are all closed .. I do wonder who makes these decisions. The man who runs our book group works for the library and he said that library staff were desperate to be open in some capacity because of fears that they will never reopen again because there will be the perception that they are no longer a necessary service. I got the impression that if the managers of each library could come up with a viable way to still be open they have been allowed to do it. And it's not just our area, in the local authority where I work the libraries are open on a similar click and collect service and the main city centre library is open for university and college students to study.

I suppose if we think back to December, Essex was a hotspot for increasing numbers, so I guess they decided it was best to stand everyone down (many of ours run on Volunteers) .. We have the luxury of 74 Libraries across the County, 14 of these are still available to arrange some computer time at, but no book access at all .. Hopefully won't be too long now ..

Libraries here in St Helens open on 8th March for click and collect and also essential computer use. Lancashire Libraries have been operating like that all during this current lockdown, so I can reserve books and then call in to collect them when they're available. (Can't step over the threshhold though!) One of the problems with reserving books is that if someone else has the book out, they don't need to return that book until at least April so you could be waiting ages for a book you really need. Still it is an improvement on how some county's are operating. I wish they would all work the same.

Same issue here too. Some books on my reservation list are stuck at home with people not wanting to return them just yet :0(

Yes, I'm NEXT on a few reservations - but if the drivers haven't been working, my library group won't be moving books around like before .. Hopefully this might change - not that I need them all in one go .. Lol

I've just seen on my local facebook page that our local library is now back to pre covid opening times! I might get there one day!
