I'm continuing with the book I started last night: The Magic Chair Murder by Diane Janes. Gave up on this quite quickly as she used some sayings which hadn't started being used at the time of her book. I know this sounds picky but it puts me off a book and I find I'm waiting for the author to make more mistakes and it spoils the enjoyment of the book. Where, again, are the proofreaders and editors these days?

Finished Eye for an Eye by M.J. Arlidge, which was brilliant! I was chuffed to start the year with a 5 star read that I was glued to, and I thought this one does really well with asking the question of whether or not it is right/appropriate to rehabilitate child perpetrators of gruesome crimes in this way. I loved the format of the different perspectives, allowing the reader to form opinions before the relationships between characters are gradually revealed, and I found my sympathies with some of the characters changing over the course of the book.
Then I finished the short story collection Murder Under the Christmas Tree, which was alright although I'm not really a fan of short stories. Sherlock Holmes was by far my favourite, no surprise there.
Currently I'm reading Genesis by Karen Slaughter, which I'm liking the premise of but have to admit I'm really willing the story to get a move on...

really pleased that you enjoyed An Eye For An Eye - I thought it was excellent as well. Didn't realise how much work was involved in the cases of new identities of people who were children when they committed their crimes. Also didn't realise how few there are of these cases.

Finished Genesis by Karin Slaughter yesterday, which I enjoyed but I feel I would have enjoyed more had it been 100-150 pages shorter. The characters went round and round, both physically as well as in conversation with each other, far too much especially in the first half of the book. I did find the crime/mystery element very well constructed though. It is book #3 of a series, which I hadn't realised before, so it is possible I would have enjoyed "being with the characters" and not minded all the conversation had they been familiar to me before (e.g. Robert Hunter and Carlos Garcia can go round in circles all they like, I'd happily follow along for the ride ).
Anyway, wanting a quick relaxing one next, so I'll be starting Days at the Morisaki Bookshop by Satoshi Yagisawa later.
