I've just started Days at the Morisaki Bookshop - it was suggested as a next read at the back of The Door-to-Door Bookshop. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on it once you've finished, if you felt the same way that I did. I think I feel the same way you did about the second half of the book. It did seem totally disconnected from the first half. I really wanted the story just to continue with the uncle and his niece in the bookshop together and her eventually healing enough to take a chance on love again, with the love and support of her uncle. I feel dissatisfied with the book.

I finished The Silent Treatment by Abbie Greaves - unfortunately my first 2* read of the year (I reserve 1* for DNF, so this is bad for me). I found Frank, the main character, utterly childish and self-absorbed, and never bought into the notion that his wife allowed things to go on for as long as they did. The second half of the book, where we hear both their voices in addition to finding out the backstory that caused this in the first place, is a bit better but the book was long gone for me by then. Oh well, that's one hardback read and off the tbr shelves.
Up next, continuing my quest to read and get rid of hardbacks that are taking up a lot of shelf space, will be Dead of Winter by Stuart McBride. It's a series but apparently they can be read as standalones, so I'm going to take a chance with this one as I don't have the first book.

I needed something light and funny so readand finished Eats, Shites & Leaves by A. Parody. 3* and an &.
Starting Veronica et autres contes fantastiques by Ruben Dario, set in Nicaragua.
Then going back to the other books I’m currently reading.
On audio finished The Coward. Not what I was expecting, jumping between past and present. Cliché characters and too much blabla. Shame as it is based on the author’s experience of being in a wheelchair after an accident. 2*. Next up is The Twist of a Knife by Anthony Horowitz.

I finished Veiller sur elle by Jean Baptiste Andrea. It's not bad but I don't see why it got the Goncourt! 3,5* rounded up.
Now concentrating on Home Before Dark by Riley Sager, zoom buddy read.

Finished listening to The Hive by Scarlett Brade, which started off so promisingly (that I went and recommended it to the Zoom girls). I was also disappointed to find that although there was a list of narrators introduced at the start, the vast majority of the book was single narrator and the others basically just provided voice for social media posts littered throughout. Nothing wrong with single-narrator audios, there are loads that I have loved, but the story also didn't hold it's momentum for very long and I really didn't like how it ended.
Up next, which I've started the first couple of chapters of, is With or Without You by Drew Davies. Good so far, a bit more downcast than I was expecting from the blurb but I really like the main character.
