I've started The Green Years - A J Cronin - this one is a nostalgia read for me. I enjoyed quite a few of his when I was a teenager and hadn't come across any for ages so I sourced one from awesomebooks when I was buying another to fill a gap in a set. I hope it lives up to the memories!

I went to town earlier, and on the walk there/back I finished listening to Adventures of the Goblin Dog by Enid Blyton. It's Book #5 of the Faraway Tree series, though I was a bit disappointed by how little the tree actually featured in it. It does feel like the first 3 books were written to be a set - this one was quite different in a number of ways e.g. featuring different children, also a single adventure instead of several different ones - but still a very enjoyable listen.
Next up on audio will be The Impostor by Damon Galgut.

Just finished Blood Runs Cold by Neil Lancaster. Given it 5 stars. Kept me hooked throughout my reading. I did pick up on one character, and decided that they were a wrong 'un straightaway and I was right. But still felt the book was worth 5 stars. Must look out for others in this series. Think I might have read a couple of his in the past already. This one was so exciting, engaging, terrifying all at the same time; found myself reading sometimes holding my breath!

Finished Last Friends by Jane Gardam. I liked how this book centered on Veneering, the third member of the love triangle. And how it brought closure to secondary characters and a whole era. 4*. A remarkable trilogy.
Still awaiting library books so starting The Madness of Crowds by Louise Penny, Gamache #17.

Decided to re-shelve Now You See Me by Sharon Bolton for now - have read one too many similar books recently and don't really remember which details are from the ~60 pages I read of this one (which I did enjoy). I would need to start over anyway, and now I feel in the mood for something a bit different.
Instead, I'm starting Portrait of a Thief by Grace D. Li, one that's been on my wishlist for awhile and I was so happy to find a discounted brand new copy of at the weekend!

Started reading The Dead of Winter by Stuart MacBride. Had to give up after reading around 47% of the book - it just didn't hit the spot and I found it too fanciful a story that I couldn't believe in it. I've read his books before and enjoyed them but not this one.
