This may be a silly question but as I haven't been on for a while and my brain doesn't work in acronyms could some one please explain 'bfg, as I'm sure you're not using it in the same form as Roald Dahl! Well sort of. Those BIG but friendly books lurking on TBRs.

Lol, thanks Wendy (Sorry that's the only embarrassed smiley I can find) I'm really terrible at acronyms.

Yes we are!!! Any oversized (like a proof copy) paperback, or a thick book, or a large hardback. Anything bigger than the norm that puts you off by it's size (a few are reading big reads on kindles, but that wasn't the original idea, as of course no hardship involved if you don't have to cart the giant paperback around, or keep it propped up in bed). So if you have some or even only one BFG, list here for your challenge, and then cross through as you read. Good luck. And Wendy? nice to see you back!!

No physical hardship, perhaps, but I'm put off reading very long books whether in ebook or treebook form, simply because they take so much longer to get through - nowadays it's very rare a book takes me more than 3 or 4 days to finish (and 2-3 days is the norm). It's a big commitment to start one that's going to take a full week! Which is why I've joined in with this challenge even though I think most of the fatties I've chosen are on my Kindle - I'd just keep putting them off, otherwise.

My current one fits under this at 580 pages, the biggest I've read for a while.
The Silkworm - Robert Galbraith
Its unfortunate that its a second hand copy and that the spine is so broken that it keeps falling open on a page later in the book!

The only time I get through any book in 3 or 4 days is when I'm on holiday Penny so that is still good going to read it in a week to me.

Just started the first of my BFG challenge - I am Pilgrim - Terry Hayes. Only 888 pages I enjoyed it so much I'd forgotten it was part of this challenge! Finished - just one to go now (similarly huge!)

I didn't have a list on the old forums, cos I'm a cow for avoiding the BFGs, but after a chat with Sarah (eightlegs) at the Bookbarn, I realised I was being silly, so I decided to give one a go this week, and realised I was def being very silly indeed, as despite it being a whopping large format and a huge 600+ Pages, it's a cracking good read, and quite fast paced, so I'm fair sailing through it, so inspired by that, I'm going to attempt to join in with this challenge! I'm not going to put too much pressure on myself, as I'm so busy, but I'm listing 3 fatties to get through before Christmas, so
A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness, which is the one I'm currently reading Finished on 29/5/2016
Ship of Magic by Robin Hobb (1st in the liveship trilogy, and a favourite author of mine, so why have I left it soo long to read, just cos it's a whopper!) Finished on 211/8/2016 The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters by GW Dahlquist

LOL, we were talking about reading lots of small books to get the numbers down, but that didn't help with getting space made on the shelves, so you had started to read the bigger ones to make more room, it struck a chord, as the BFGs are multiplying, but I've been avoiding them, so decided I should take a page from your book so to speak!
