On loan from a friend, The Candy House by Jennifer Egan. She disliked it but I'm quite tempted. Wondering why it's a loan rather than a gift, if she didn't like it

Ah, understood. Gifts are such a touchy subject. A friend gave me a picture I really hate and don't want to have to look at every day in my little flat, but it stays in the back of the wardrobe ready for her visits

The last three library books I was expecting.
Le monte-charge by Frédéric Dard (Bird in a Cage). Was tempted when I saw it in the book circle! He's very famous but I've never read any of his books.
Ka, Dar Oakley in the Ruins of Ymr by John Crowley. Fantasy. French version.
Between Two Evils by Eva Dolan. #5 in series, I have #6 on TBR.

I’ve just got home after our meet-up with a total of 9 books, plus my circle book-
Amsterdam by Ian McEwan from the farm shop Dark Matter by Michelle Paver from the book dip
The rest from Mrs Mac - The Confession by Jessie Burton Days of Wonder by Keith Stuart The Winter’s Child by Cassandra Parkin Educated by Tara Westover Rumble by Abi Elphinstone The Long Valley by John Steinbeck Where My Heart Used to Beat by Sebastian Faulks
if anyone would like any of these, I am happy to pass them on after I’ve read them, of course!

After a lovely day I have two books in, from the book dip and also the extra book dip I "created" from Mrs Mac's books - everyone got a lucky dip from the collection too, including me. So I have:
True Sisters - Sandra Dallas from the Mrs Mac dip and You were gone - Tim Weaver from the main dip

Home with a huge pile from the Bristol Meet! And this is despite my managing to not buy anything from the farm shop.
A Gift for Dying by M.J. Arlidge, The Last Piece of My Heart by Paige Toon and Heads You Win by Jeffrey Archer from emzbez
From Mrs Mac's stash: Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate Forgotten Authors, Bryant & May and the Memory of Blood and Hell Train by Christopher Fowler Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson-Walker ETA ooh, also Gone by Myn Kim, which I'd forgotten about as I read it on the way back lol
Wasn't so lucky with either of the book dips, managing in both cases to end up with books I'd already had/read (one of which I'd picked up earlier in the day lol). Very kindly Sarah eightlegs swapped with me for the main dip, so I came away with Sisters by Daisy Johnson.
Also two massive boxes from pennylane and geminii (which I needed to borrow a bag to carry back!), which I'm sure contain books, but I will only open them next month so stay tuned

I spent some time looking at Audible freebies today and found two interesting ones:
Annie John by Jamaica Kincaid, set in Antigua. Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo. Quite chuffed!

That's amazing! Thanks for reminding me about Audible freebies! I've listened to Annie John for free in the past, but the Bernadine Evaristo isn't free for me. I wonder if it's a country thing or personal? They seem to have some "chosen for you" selections in the freebies. I saw some interesting ones in the classics section but quite a few that I've already read. I did grab some mystery short stories by Peter Lovesey, The Crime of Miss Oyster Brown and Other Stories
I also got The Stranger Diaries by Elly Griffiths in the Audible £2.99 sale.

I believe it's a country thing. I looked on the tablet as the full list isn't showing on the app, they mostly suggest French books.. I scrolled through 35 pages of 400 In English!

Oh wow, I tried again and found a link that said "Discover all titles in the Plus catalogue." Then apparently I have over 10,000 results! I'm sure a lot of them are podcasts and things I have no interest in, but I will have a good look! See you all in a week or so

That's how I got the list of English books. Many I have no interest in either.
